Whitby Music Centre Saturday morning violin classes pay dividends

Staff at the centre offered a Saturday morning group violin class, and after two years the results are impressive.
There are now 10 students in the ensemble, with seven new starters who will be ready to join the ensemble next year.

Hide AdThe beginners are provided with instruments and have a 30-minute lesson every week during term time.
In the second year, the improvers have their own lesson, and then join the ensemble for the first half hour.
By the third year, they are ready to play a full rehearsal in the larger group.
Teacher Sue Rowland said: "Playing the violin is fun but is quite hard to begin with.
"The children have come along every week full of enthusiasm and keen to do their best.
"I was so proud of their performance at Sleights Village Hall.”
